In this renovation project, our client set out the spaces he needed from the very beginning. However, both the surface area of the apartment and its complex floor plan posed a challenge.

We needed to compartmentalise the space, yet we also wanted the apartment as a whole to give the greatest possible sense of spaciousness and comfort. On this basis, we decided on a large, bright day area which would bring together the kitchen, dining room and living room in a single space. That meant we had to study the elements required to configure this central space very carefully. One of the elements selected was a sliding window with a black lacquered iron structure, with a lightweight, transparent design creating a unique feature in the apartment.

We kept these considerations in mind as we designed the carpentry in the apartment, including the shelving and other items of furniture. Our aim was to create overall harmony and balance to give the apartment a warm, comfortable atmosphere.

The kitchen provided us with the ideal setting to play with a vintage theme. As a nod to the flooring in the original apartment, we designed a ceramic tile composition to form a mosaic of colour which reflects the lively elements present in Valencian houses in the modernist era.
