Taking its longitudinal floor plan and complex layout featuring a kitchen at one end into consideration, our proposal for renovating this apartment in the Valencian urban expansion area focused on harnessing the full potential of its 110 m2. We carefully studied the layout in order to come up with a solution to make it more cohesive, practical and functional.
One of the main features of the apartment is a central foyer providing convenient access to all of the rooms. The foyer was transformed into a highly functional space with a number of potential uses. It has an area for reading and relaxation, several storage areas with ample cupboards and shelves, and a small utility room hidden behind sliding doors made of walnut wood. Our main aim was to make the most of the space available.
When it came to the kitchen, we opted for a custom-made design which would create a balance between functionality and aesthetics through the combination of the various finishes. Another of our aims was to incorporate the kitchen into the overall design of the apartment and we used the oak wood finish from the flooring throughout the house in two separate parts of the kitchen to achieve this: on the office table which intersects with the central island and on the front panel of the sink area. This fusion of materials lends a sense of cohesion and serenity to the apartment.
The result of the renovation is a warm yet modern home, with a very convenient layout in which natural light and carpentry take centre stage. In short, a home anyone would be happy to live in.
